SITRONICS TS enables Austrian households to track energy consumption over the internet
SITRONICS TS will install 6000 meters for remote real time reading of energy consumption in Feldkirch, Austria.
Prague, April 17 th, 2009 - Today SITRONICS Telecom Solutions (SITRONICS TS) announced that it will deliver 6000 meters to the network of Stadtwerke Feldkirch company, a supplier of electrical energy, water and utilities in Feldkirch, Austria. By concluding this contract of 580 thousand euro, the companies are continuing in their long-term cooperation, which started with the implementation of the UTILIS system in the Feldkirch distribution network. UTILIS is a multifunctional solution developed by SITRONICS TS, which ensures remote administration of the electrical energy distribution network and real time reading of energy consumption.
Stadtwerke Feldkirch plans to exchange all 17 thousand meters and thus offer new services to all customers. By the end of 2010 SITRONICS TS will deliver the new generation of Echelon intelligent meters to the network of this Vorarlberg municipal company. These meters use the Rogowski coil principle, have a bigger memory capacity and enable customers to choose from a wide scale of new functions.
The other six thousand customers of Stadtwerke Feldkirch will soon have the option to order its ecological saving product by which they can track their household consumption via internet, how, for example, a new refrigerator influences their consumption or how much power is needed for stand-by operation. This detailed information will help the end users to optimise electrical energy use and save money as well as the environment.
"Austrians traditionally prefer ecological solutions and that is why Stadtwerke Feldkirch has decided to use the possibilities offered by our UTILIS system," Martin Maloš, SITRONICS TS UTILIS team leader, says. "Thanks to the new Echelon meters the company can extend its "green" portfolio with other functions."
Thus, this product represents a new and interesting source of income for power and utilities distributors. Stadtwerke Feldkirch is a pioneer of a new business model in Central Europe, in which the distributor is interested in power saving and offers also consultancy and information services.
